2003: Achievement of ISO 14000 Certification

Shortly after the achievement of ISO 9001:2000 in March 2003, we enthusiastically embarked on achieving another prestigious international standard -- the ISO 14000 in early April 2003. Within a short period of six-month full-steam preparation, commitment and strong team-work, we are proud to mark-off yet another milestone achievement with the award of "ISO 14001 : 1996 on Environmental Management System - Specification with Guidance for Use" by SPRING Singapore (Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board) in October 2003.

In line with Olympus Corporate Environmental Policy, OST's Environmental Policy is based on the word "GREEN" which represents:

Govern company key business processes to comply with relevant environmental legal and other requirements.

Reduce waste generation, improve energy efficiency, promote reuse and recycling of material and minimize environmental impact in product design and processes.

Educate, train and promote environmental awareness of all employees.

Encourage suppliers, contractors and other interested parties to follow environmental friendly policy.

Nurture Environmental Management System for the continual improvement and performances by conducting environmental audits and review our objectives and targets periodically.

2002: Achievement of ISO 9001 : 2000

Financial Year of 2002 is yet another milestone achievement for OST, with the award of ISO 9001: 2000 certification on the very first attempt. The certification for Business Development, Product Creation and Management of Contract Manufacturers of Optical Devices was awarded by SPRING Singapore (Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board) in March 2003.

The cohesiveness of OST team spirit demonstrated by the management and staff, with the common aim of obtaining the ISO 9001 certification, was indeed a handsome payoff after a year's of hard work and perseverance. Mr Tomoo Ito, Managing Director of OST added that "The earning of the ISO 9001 was a significant achievement for OST but it only signified the beginning journey for the company. We have to continuously establish and offer high quality standards in all areas of our deliverables and to further enhance customer satisfaction."

As a young company with three years of establishment, the ISO 9001 certification is certainly an encouragement to the strong-staff strength of 60 and has indeed brought us a step closer to realize our mission as a world-class standard company.
